Impact Window Cost Guide for 2026
How impact windows are priced, what you save on insurance, and the rebates worth claiming in Florida and the Gulf Coast.
By QOTA Team
What impact windows cost in 2026
- Standard impact single-hung: $55–$85 / sq ft installed
- Casement / picture impact: $70–$110 / sq ft
- Sliding glass doors (impact): $4,500–$9,000 each
- Whole-house retrofit (15 openings): $18,000–$35,000
A 3' × 5' impact window runs about $1,000–$1,400 installed on a typical job.
What changes the price
- Frame material — aluminum is cheapest, vinyl mid, fiberglass and clad-wood premium.
- Glass package — laminated only vs. impact + low-E + argon.
- Color and tint — non-standard colors add 5–15%.
- Wall thickness and stucco vs. siding (block walls + stucco = more labor).
- Permit and engineering — required everywhere in Florida.
What you save
- Wind / hurricane insurance discount: 20–45% off the wind premium with a wind-mitigation report after install.
- No more boarding up — saves the cost and time of shutters.
- Energy savings: low-E impact glass cuts cooling load 15–25%.
- UV reduction: ~99% — protects flooring and furniture.
- Sound dampening: laminated glass cuts outside noise dramatically.
Rebates and credits
- State and county PACE financing — common in Florida (Ygrene, Renew, etc.).
- Citizens / private insurer wind mitigation re-rate — file Form OIR-B1-1802 after install.
- Federal energy efficiency credit — up to $600/year for Energy Star windows.
Avoid the bait-and-switch
Reputable installers will provide a Notice of Acceptance (NOA) number, Florida Building Code approval, and engineering for the install method (sill anchor pattern). If a quote doesn't include the NOA or permit, it's not a real installation.
